BMI and Overweight

Overweight leads to increased sickliness and mortality. The more overweight – the higher sickliness and the higher mortality. Therefore, it is important for you to have a measure for your overweight.

Is it moderate or severe? Severe overweight is naturally a bigger problem than moderate overweight and the negative consequences of overweight increases with an increasing BMI.

WHO has established normal weight and overweight for adults from the perspective that the term ‘overweight’ leads to increased sickliness and mortality. A patient, who according to the WHO is overweight, thus has increased sickliness and mortality because of his or her overweight.

For adults:
BMI 18,5-24,9 normal weight.
BMI 25-29,9 moderate overweight.
BMI over 30 severely overweight/obese.
