Preface
Most people cannot feel that their blood pressure is too high. However, in the long term, blood pressure is essential to your health. High blood pressure increases the risk of a heart attack or stroke. Blood clots in the heart or brain can cause death and leads to considerable disability for many people.
Fortunately, there is efficient medicine that can lower the blood pressure. However, it is rarely enough to just take pills. Almost all people with high blood pressure must change their way of living – if they want to live well. It concerns tobacco, alcohol, weight, food habits and exercise.
Together your lifestyle and your blood pressure decide your risk of having a blood clot in the heart or brain. The doctor can efficiently treat for a too high blood pressure with one or several kinds of medicine, but you have to do something about your life style yourself, if you want to live long and well.
