Typhoid

Protection from salmonella infection.

The risk of contracting typhoid is greatest when travelling in South-East Asia and the Indian subcontinent. Look closer on the map here. Vaccination is highly recommended for children visiting their parents’ home country, where they will live locally.

For children less than 3 years old vaccination by injection is recommended. The shot provides protection for 1 to 3 years.

Most children more than 3 years old can eat capsules. 1 capsule on day 1, 3 and 5 is given. The vaccination provides protection after 10 days and for 10 years.
