Acute urinary retention
Urination stop is a condition where you cannot urinate. The condition is painful and requires fast catheter treatment.
If the urination is stopped, you cannot urinate. The condition is most commonly seen in men over the age of 70 and is usually caused by a large prostate. The prostate can squeeze so much about the urethra that it completely shuts down. Other causes of acute urination stop may include diabetes, cerebral haemorrhage, pregnancy and drug side effects.
As urine is still being formed, which cannot escape, the bladder is distended. When the bladder is distended, severe urination urge occurs and gradually pain comes at the bottom of the stomach. The bladder can become very large and reach all the way to the navel.
